Seeing far / getting there
An architecture practice rooted in Connecticut's Quiet Corner — seeing what a place can become, then drawing the line that gets it there.
— Peaslee Architect, P.C.
A building should belong to its place, improve the site, and — hopefully — never shout.
Peaslee Architect, P.C. is a full-service architecture practice based in Woodstock Valley, Connecticut. From the studio in the Quiet Corner, Stuart Peaslee and his team carry residential, commercial and institutional projects across Hartford, New London, Norwich, Tolland, Worcester, Springfield, Providence, New York and beyond — one hand, from first sketch to final walk-through.
The practice offers the full arc of architectural service: project inception, feasibility studies, site selection, building condition audits, schematic design, construction documents, working drawings, bidding and negotiation, project management, full-time site representation, and substantial performance of construction. Whether the project is a private home in the Connecticut woods, a mixed-use building in Brooklyn, a shoreline house in Rhode Island, or a residence in Hawai'i, the same discipline holds.
Most commissions begin before there is anything to draw. Since 1996 the practice has led with pre-design project consulting and zoning and code review — reading the site, the regulations and the budget honestly, so that the decision to build is made with open eyes. When the answer is yes, the same architect who asked the first questions carries the drawings through bidding, construction and the final walk-through.
