Architect in Hartford, Connecticut

The capital, an hour west of the studio — where the work turns civic, commercial and considerably more regulated.

Aerial view of an institutional campus

Peaslee Architect, P.C. carries residential, commercial and institutional projects across Hartford and greater Hartford County. The studio is roughly an hour east in Woodstock Valley, close enough for regular site presence and far enough to keep a clear head about what the city actually needs.

Hartford is a city of layers — nineteenth-century brick, mid-century civic concrete, and a good deal of recent infill that has not always been kind to either. Working here means being fluent in that history without being sentimental about it.

Zoning, code and the approvals path

Hartford projects live or die on the approvals path. The practice handles zoning and code review early — before a scheme is loved — so the constraints shape the design instead of arriving late to wreck it. That includes use and dimensional analysis, historic district review where it applies, and coordination with city planning and building officials.

Feasibility studies and cost analysis are usually the first commission here, because the answer to "can this site carry this program" is rarely obvious from the street.

What gets built

Commercial fit-outs and small mixed-use buildings. Institutional work for schools, congregations and nonprofits. Additions and gut renovations to the substantial older houses of West Hartford, Bloomfield and the surrounding towns. Adaptive reuse where a sound frame deserves a second working life.

Projects run from programming and schematic design through construction documents and contract administration, with one architect holding the intent the whole way.

  Also serving, near Hartford

From the Woodstock Valley studio, Peaslee Architect, P.C. also takes work in West Hartford, Bloomfield, Glastonbury, Manchester, Wethersfield, Newington, Windsor, Farmington and the surrounding towns. Wherever the project sits, the arrangement is the same — one licensed architect, one intent, carried from the first honest conversation through substantial performance of construction.
